Taking care of ourselves can be very difficult to do, especially if we have grown up in an abusive situation. The abnormal was, for us, normal. Although uncomfortable, it was familiar. Identifying the fact that being treated this way is NOT good can be difficult. Drawing that boundary to stop the abuse...slaying the dragon...can also be difficult. But oh, how freeing it is when we do it!

Thanks for your words of wisdom, Angela!

timeless wisdom. The key is learning to feel the correct feeling when someone starts their abuse. If you feel yourself go numb, chances are you are around an abuser. It's an amazing process.
