I really appreciate that you talk about thriving another step after just surviving , taking over our trauma instead of it taking us over, learning to change our inner thoughts-- what we tell ourselves we are, we believe. We're on the right track--the best possible path--if we call ourselves thrivers. Thrivers, not (just) survivors! I look forward to this becoming a common term in any kind of healing, but especially for survivors of abuse. Can't wait to read more posts on this topic! Thanks for your valuable insight.

Hello and Big thanks for this article! Thriving takes courage because to re-program our thinking and and move beyond negativity is no easy task-- I know this from experience! My thriving story starts with survival of abuse growing up and continuing its pattern in my relationships. Near the end of my counseling I met a woman named Susan Omilian who founded the MY AVENGING ANGEL Workshops helping women who have been abused get started on a new life.

In fact she is in the process of releasing a book called The Thriver Workbook, full of exercises and other thriver's stories specifically to help women of this demographic.

I will send her your blog and I look forward to reading your future posts about thriving. Thriving, quite possibly is the best measurement in our recovery success. THANK YOU!

Shayde,
I really appreciate your input about my blog. I truly think we need to give ourselves credit for being brave enough even to take the steps toward conquering it all! You're an inspiration for me as well.
Keep blogging and i will too!

What an inspiring point - thoroughly enjoyed reading this and being open enough to give myself some recognition with regards to the work I have done so far (even though some areas of my life are back at step 1!) Thank you :-)
